LENGA
Challenge
How might we equip vulnerable populations in East Africa with financial skills to overcome economic shocks and improve their financial health.
Outcome
We designed “Lenga”, an ed-tech table application that uses tutorials and gamification to teach low-income earners financial skills.
The approach
A revolutionary ed-tech platform launched by UNCDF as part of its mission to increase meaningful financial inclusion in the parts of the world that need it most.We developed financial education content and materials for the vulnerable rural populations in Kigoma region of Tanzania. In June 2020, we launched a ‘Lenga’ kit of financial education materials, consisting of comic magazines and audio podcast shows, designed to in particular target existing and potential members of the savings groups and farmers in the region. This was then transformed into a financial literacy app with immersive games and videos.
A series featuring fresh, fun and relatable content about the ins and outs of having a safe, healthy sex life.
Much of the content from the Sister Pack is repackaged through short, punchy, TikTok style tutorial and testimonials by former TAA youth leaders and other young girls.
